4th Rebirth, 56 FE
Vashti, GuUshal, and Leila spend the afternoon briefly discussing and preparing for the city guards arriving. It is decided that GuUshal will lead the word.
Around sunset, the guards arrive. There are 7 guards, including Captain Carlisle. With them is the dwarf Bruk. They quickly search the area, and then begin interrogating the group. First the PCs, and then the brigands.
The PCs give an account of the event as they happened, and Peasant Garry confirmed much of the account, but contradicted it on several critical points, trying to push blame on the PCs. Namely, he insisted that he and his companions traveled together, that Valka and GuUshal initiated the aggression, and that the PCs mercilessly used lethal force on them until allowing them to surrender. They were then patched up and rudely interrogated.
The city guards decide in the end to take the two brigands back to the dungeons of Eltazar, and task GuUshal with making sure that the dead brigand Willard is disposed of in an appropriate manner.
GuUshal borrows a shovel from Valka, and digs a grave. On a tree next to the grave, he carves the words “This bet was lost” in Hamarak.
The PCs suddenly realize that they are hungry, and start to cook. Shortly thereafter, they eat and go to sleep.
The following two days go by without any further events of significance. In the late afternoon of 6th Rebirth, they come within sight of Bluecastle. It has started to rain, and Vashti notices that the ground is swampy as if it has been raining constantly for over a year. The rain becomes heavier as they get closer to Bluecastle.
Valka stops the cab and explains that she cannot take them further, lest Saldar will recognize her. She gives a little wooden messenger bird to Leila and tells her how to activate it (and that she should only do it when they need to be picked up). They say their farewells, and Valka departs.
